Jerry Strickland, FOCA's former Executive Director, was well known to a great many cottagers for his relentless efforts made in pursuit of their interests. With his passing in July 1995, a true advocate of the "cottage way of life" was lost. The Jerry Strickland Award of Merit is a memorial to Jerry's 18 years with FOCA and a remembrance of his own contribution to cottaging.
Each year FOCA nominates and presents an award in his memory to a member association. The winning organization must have realized a significant accomplishment(s) to benefit waterfront communities in Ontario or demonstrated innovation in its work with its members and community.
