About the Canadian Safe Boating Council
The CSBC is in the business of promoting safe and responsible boating throughout Canada. They are Canada’s leading boating safety organization. As a volunteer-driven, not-for-profit entity, CSBC works to increase awareness, to educate and to hopefully decrease boating-related drowning incidents.
Boating continues to be the most common type of activity engage in prior to a water-related fatality, accounting for more than 25% of the 450 to 500 drownings across Canada each year. Not wearing a PFD or lifejacket, alcohol consumption, and cold water immersion remain majoy contributing factors to fatalities.
