As we have no remaining in-person seats for this event, we are offering a WEBINAR option for the full day’s seminars. We hope you can join us in this manner!

To participate by webinar from 9:00am to 3:00pm, please note the following:

  • the webinar is NOT being recorded; you need to be available to view it on November 16th
  • required: built-in speaker on your computer, or plug-in headphones to hear the sound at the event
  • highly recommended: high speed internet at your location
  • you will be able to hear the presentations, and see all the slides being shown, and can text questions or comments to the webinar host to forward to the speakers in each session
  • all webinar & in-person registrants will receive the Event Summary in later November, including links to download the day’s presentations.

The cost to participate by webinar is $30 per member, or $45 for non-members. Participate in one session, or the whole day, at your option. (see Agenda & seminar topics, below)

You must complete your webinar registration by Thursday, November 15th at 5:00pm, or contact the FOCA office during business hours, Monday to Friday at 705-749-3622 for manual assistance.

The title of this year’s FOCA Fall Seminar for Lake Associations is “Lake stress, road egress, water tests, extra guests, septic checks” and is drawn from current issues and top ongoing concerns of our membership.

FEATURE SPEAKER:

John Smol, paleolimnologist, is one of the world’s foremost experts on environmental change. His research deals with using lake sediments to study climate change, eutrophication, and other environmental stressors. A Canada Research Chair and professor of biology and environmental studies at Queen’s University, Dr. Smol has been at the vanguard of scientific discovery related to lake ecosystems for over 30 years. He is an Officer of the Order of Canada, and was recently awarded the Polar Medal by the Governor General of Canada. (pictured at right)

  • septic re-inspection programs: FOCA’s new Report, and municipal case studies & best practices explained
