Lake Management Plans provide a scientific approach to preserving the environment over the short and long terms. They involve detailed field inventories of subwatersheds, rivers, and lakes to identify natural features and factors affecting their health. This information is used to create a plan to address any problems and maintain good conditions.
Planning and implementation is often directed by steering committees made up of landowners, volunteers, and representatives from community organizations, governments, and agencies. FOCA actively participates on the Community Advisory Panel with Kawartha Conservation’s Project Management Team in the lake plan development process and has a role to promote the Lake Management Planning projects among peers and lake stakeholders.
