Silver Lake is situated in Eastern Ontario along Highway 7 between the town of Perth and village of Sharbot Lake. The Silver Lake and Area Environment Protection Association was formed in 1979 in response to a large residential development proposed for the area. SLAEPA strives to advocate for and protect the health and natural beauty of our lake environment.
Our lake is unique, in that:
- It is a designated lake trout lake and has environmentally protected zones
- Almost half of its frontage is owned by the Province of Ontario, with a major highway, highway rest area and public boat launch
- It is home to a provincial park and a camp
- It has only about 85 parcels of lake front land.
What We Do:
We represent our property owners and long term renters through a number of activities throughout the year. We:
- Amplify the voices of our lake community via regular liaisons with:
- The Lake Associations Networking Group
- Frontenac and Lanark counties and townships of Central Frontenac and Tay Valley
- The Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority
- The OPP
- Silver Lake Provincial Park
- Provincial Ministries such as Natural Resources, Transport and the Environment.
- Provide an infrastructure to address unexpected events that could impact our lake.
- Connect residents via newsletters, e-mail, social events and our Facebook page
Monitor water quality and lake levels. Without clean and safe lake water, we wouldn’t be able to enjoy our properties.
- Past Water Test results are available from Water Rangers
Information about septic systems are available for Central Frontenac and Tay Valley
- Share resources on invasive species, shoreline naturalization
