The Red Cap Beach Association was formed in the 1950s when cottages were first built on the eastern shore of Canal Lake on Red Cap Beach Lane. Today the Association manages the “lane” for approximately 40 seasonal and year-round residents.

Canal Lake has an area of 2,130 acres (860 hectares) with a maximum depth of roughly 15 feet (4.6 m). With a diversity of fishing spots, Canal Lake is on the Trent-Severn Waterway and is ideally situated between Lock 36 – the historic Kirkfield Lift Lock – and the Bolsover Swing Bridge. Facing west, Red Cap Beach Lane properties offer beautiful sunsets across Canal Lake.

The mandate of the Association is to maintain the private unassumed road known as Red Cap Beach Lane in the City of Kawartha Lakes. This involves winter maintenance to ensure year-round access to your home or cottage as well as [typically] bi-annual road maintenance to ensure safe passage along our approximately 750m roadway. From time to time the association also collaborates and shares information regarding other road, lake, cottaging and municipal issues.

An annual meeting is held for all members and fees are set for the upcoming year and invoices are issued to all properties benefitting from the use of the road.
