The Ontario Government has passed a habitat regulation for the following nine endangered and threatened species: American Badger, Barn Owl, Eastern Prairie Fringed-Orchid, Engelmann’s Quillwort, Few-flowered Club-rush, Jefferson Salamander, Peregrine Falcon, Western Silvery Aster and Wood Turtle.
This regulation may be of interest to FOCA members who are undertaking work on their properties, particularly as it relates to Engelmann’s Quillwort. Open Houses are being held across Ontario to provide more information about the regulation and to receive advice on how to avoid damage or destruction of habitat when undertaking activities. For more information on the Open Houses see the attached notice.
