What does FOCA do?
FOCA sits at the table where individuals cannot.

Over the past year, FOCA has:

  • Continued to lobby at the Ontario Energy Board for fair energy rates
  • Co-hosted public meetings alerting Eastern Ontario property owners about developments in the Algonquin Land Claim.
  • Secured Mining Act changes that enhance rural property owners’ land rights re: exploration
  • Lobbied for clearer recognition of the significance of waterfront lands, through our participation in the Provincial Policy Statement review
  • Spoken out about the closure of the Experimental Lakes Area, changes to the Fisheries Act and the environmental impact of federal and provincial omnibus bills
  • Reviewed emergency preparedness in rural Ontario with municipal and other partners following 2013 spring flooding.
Advocacy & Government Relations:

FOCA is the only province-wide voice for Ontario cottagers and waterfront property owners. We keep you up to date on changes in legislation and other timely news. FOCA advocates at the federal, provincial and regional levels on priorities that affect waterfront property owners.
